Hey fabs!

It’s fashion weeek time! Well…not really, lol. It’s real soon though and I can’t tell you how excited I am. I am dying to see what our prestigious designers have been working on. It’s going to be my first time as a full time blogger to be experiencing fashion week live and direct in the bustling city of Lagos.

This time, the LFDW team have promised us a bigger and better show displaying designers from across Africa in their bid to promote inter connectivity within the African fashion industries. Another exciting detail about fashion week this year is the replacement of the prestigious award ‘LFDW Young Designer of the Year’ with an even better award called the LFDW Fashion Focus. The benefits of this award include a 6 months internship with Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesy (LVMH)’s EDUN which will be facilitated by Frallain, a scholarship opportunity at Istituto Marangoni, retail pop ups across Nigeria and more exciting benefits. So if you are a young and talented designer reading this, you need to head over to http://www.lagosfashionanddesignweek.com and get the details on how to participate.

The Lagos fashion and design week is title sponsored by GTBank. It is also sponsored by Maybelline Nigeria, British Council and Fayrouz Nigeria. Their media partners also include Wings Magazine, Style Vitae, Haute Fashion Africa and Ono Bello.

Who is excited? Let the countdown begin!!!

#LFDW Day 1: Wana Sambo

In the words of Rachel Zoe, ‘I DIE!’. I’d take one of every piece, thank you! Wana Sambo has always been the designer to celebrate womanhood so I am not surprised that she nailed this entire collection from start to finish.

The color palette used was genius! From pink to orange and blue, her vision for her collection was brilliantly executed. I could see inspiration from lounge wear which translated to the slip dress with lace details and floral inspiration which translated to print and applique used. The line is wearable, affordable and well thought out. The reversible jacket is genius and so is the fact that the collection can take you from day looks to night looks.

I love this collection so much and I would be paying the Wana Sambo studio a visit soon.
